Have you ever been asked to take on a challenging
role at work? A ministry at your church? Or with a non-profit organization? Has
that request made you feel anxious or nervous because you didn’t feel
qualified?
Fear of failure can sometimes paralyze us. Venturing
into new territory can feel terrifying. It’s easy to question our skills. We
may struggle with wondering why we were asked. After all, wouldn’t Mary or
Rachelle do a better job?
At the same time . . . along with a bit of anxiety, we may experience a spark of
excitement. What if? What if we could actually do
it? What if what we have to offer is exactly what’s needed?”
God is fully aware of your potential—even when you
don’t recognize it.
“Before
I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I
appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)
According to the book of Jeremiah in the Bible, God
spoke these words to the prophet. But, we can also embrace them. If he formed
Jeremiah, he formed and knew us as well.
God
made us who we are—with a plan and a purpose.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the
Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
Malcolm Forbes, the chairman and editor in chief of Forbes Magazine and a flamboyant
multimillionaire said, “Too many people overvalue what they are not and
undervalue what they are.”
Don’t be too quick to sell yourself short. Perhaps
someone has perceived something in you that you haven’t seen. Maybe that opportunity—that open door—was
placed there by God in order for you to fulfill a purpose.
And who knows . . .
it might be the avenue that takes you on an exciting and rewarding
journey!
What
opportunities are being presented to you right now that you need to seriously
consider?
