There are times when we may wonder if we have
anything to offer. Like really … do we have any significance in the world?
Other people may seem to have it all together, and it may feel like what they’ve
done is more important than anything we’ve ever
accomplished—or could accomplish. Nothing we’ve achieved has ever been newsworthy
or seemed to make much difference. We just go through our day the same as the
one before.
But I believe without a doubt that every person who
has ever been born has a reason to be here—a purpose. Something that God has
called us to do.
Before God formed me in my mother’s womb, He knew me
and before I came out of the womb He sanctified me, and ordained me a purpose
to bless my generation. I will fulfill that purpose and my life on earth will
glorify Him (Jeremiah 1:5).
This
gives me assurance—and comfort—that my being here has more significance than
taking up space on the planet.
Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill his purpose
for me” (RSV). Another version states it this way: “The Lord will work out his
plans for my life” (NLT).
God DOES have a purpose for you. Try to be patient
if it seems to be taking a long time to reveal itself. Trust that in God’s
timing, you’ll discover it—and it will be AWESOME!
If you’re growing tired of waiting for something to
happen in your life that makes you feel like you’re accomplishing something
worthwhile, what can you do today that will help make
that waiting easier?
